Basically I am a ramen person. Often I will go around Singapore hunting for good ramen joints. Marutama ramen has another branch at Central(Eu Tong Sen Street) for some reason I don't particularly like the parking at Central. However inside Central there are quite a few good ramen joints which I will introduce and talk about when given the opportunity. Marutama is one of my favourites when I think of ramen. Usually I will try to Aka Ramen when I am in Marutama. I remember bringing an Australian customer to try after trying Aka Ramen he was full of praises for Japanese Ramen. The noodes are thin and soft. I don't particularly fancy thick ramen. The soup uses chicken stock. Most ramen joints use pork bones however some will have very strong swine smell. Hence if you have a foreign guest, trying ramen in Marutama can never go wrong.
Nama Karashi Ramen S$12 slightly spicy
Sui Gyoza S$5
Dashimaki S$8
The restaurant doesn't have a wide range of menu. Dashimaki has slight sweetness. For those that doesn't like vinegar you have to give Sui Gyoza a miss. The most important thing for a ramen is the temperature of the soup and noodle. It must be piping hot. I have no problem finishing the soup till its last drop.
