Teochew Porridge Buffet(Hotel Windsor)

410 Macpherson Road, Singapore 368125 Tel:6508 2188
There isn't many places in Singapore that serve Teochew Porridge Buffet on weekend. The one that I can recall easily is Quality Hotel. At Windsor Hotel the weekend Teochew Buffet for lunch is S$13.8++ per person. The spread is just nice for the price. It has all the basic essential for a Teochew Porridge:salted vegetables, mei cai, fried ikan and peanuts, boiled peanuts, sambal chilli shrimp, braised pork, fermented beancurd, fish, prawns and salted egg.
The food is average. But for the price and plus buffet what more could you ask for?

O-Learys Sports Bar & Grill

30 Raffles Avenue Singapore 039803 #01-04 Open:11am to 11pm
Tel: 6337 6718
Melly went shopping at Club 21 Bazaar(the building where the F1 race starts). I went over to Singapore Flyer to find an air-con place for a good cup of coffee and morning breakfast. The set up of the restaurant is very America.
The coffee is good!
It was perfect a weekend. Melly got to shop while I enjoy a nice cup of coffee and reading the Sunday Times in an air-con environment.
Club Salad
The club salad was great. I like the bacon, avocado, olive, chicken, tomatoes and onion. The service at the restaurant is also fantastic. If you have NTUC Union Card there is a further 15% discount on ala-carte items.

Tiong Shian Porridge Centre

Most famous porridge stall in Chinatown
265 New Bridge Road Singapore 088745 Business Hourss: 8 am - 4am. Close on Monday(2 times a month)

I have been patronizing this stall close to 10 years. In the early days of my patronization, I find that the quality is much better. Of those during those early days, it is much more crowded and harder to find a seat. The wait for the food is also longer. But nowadays finding a place to sit is not much of a problem and the food comes much faster. There is also a second floor which can be reached by the side or lift that not many people are aware. Nevertheless whenever me or Melly think of porridge we will think of this stall.

Melly will always order the beancurd while I order the raw fish slices
For me my favourite porridge will be 猪什 porridge.

Restoran Fifty Nine(Abolone Noodle)

There are 3 locations all within Johore Bahru
1)14, Jalan Kelwang, Taman Sri Tebrau, 80050 J.B. Johor - + 60167195959
2)80, JLN Badik, Taman Sri Tebrau, 80050, JB, Johor
3)Ikan Bakar Hawker Centre Sri Tebrau + 0127759369

Melly tried it a few times with Gina, so I thought why not just drove down to Johor Bahru and try since nearby also quite a few massage joints. This eating joint that I went to has a chicken stall besides. I ordered the roast chicken. It was very good as well.

Mee Kia costed $11 Ringget.
My bowl has big pieces of oyster, abalone, baby clam, prawns, pork slices and fish glue
Mee Tai Mak in soup $11 Ringgit
Bee Hoon Kway Teow

I am a Teochew and most Teochews like to eat pinced meat noodle. Well the noodle above, to me is the Malaysia version of pinced meat noodle. But much better with so many goodies. Reminds me Medan Hokkien Mee which sometimes can be more than the noodles itself. The bee hoon kway teow is so so nothing out of the world but the mee kia is really shiokalicious. It is extremely thin and al dente.
This roast chicken is very tender and juicy.

Lok Lok

There are 2 lok lok van in this vicinity that one that is painted "Lok Lok" is the best. The other one with the number painted is first runner up.Also in Malaysia lok lok they have solidified pig blood which you can't find in Singapore.

Jia Ji Mei Shi

Located at Chinatown Food Complex. Level 2

Normally, I will patronise the stall for its peanut porridge, chee cheong fun, steamed yamcake and raw fish salad. Used to do that during my Uni days with my room-mates. The standard is the same and just as good and consistent.
This is my wife favourite.
This is my favourite, raw fish

I always finish the whole plate. This raw fish is especially good when eaten with porridge. The small chilli makes it spicy.

Tuck Kee(Ipoh Sah Hor Fun)

Located at Hong Lim Food Centre. #02-40. Closed on Sunday 11am to 3pm
Went to Hong Lim to eat this famous Ipoh Hor Fun. The best part about it, is it is FREE FREE. Yes, it is because I have known the stall owner's son for many year. Alot of times if I eat at the stall it is free. My serving is also special!
Look at my special! There is crayfish, prawn, abolane
The queue is always very long. The shrimp wanton is a whole piece of prawn. This plate will typically last me the whole day. Super filling.
See the shrimp wanton soup
After renovation all the cutlery change to plastic type. But who care when the food is nice.

Taste of Village Kitchen

351 Changi Road Singapore 419818 Opening Hours: Mon - Sun, 11.30am to 11.30pm
This restaurant used to be located at Changi Village. For those who are familiar with Changi Village would surely know that last time there was a famous restaurant called Jackie Beer Garden. During the hey days in the weekends, it is always packed to the brim. Currently Changi Village is undergoing renovation.

I checked with the staff whether they would shift back to Changi Village after the completion of renovation at Changi Village. They themselves were also not sure. In the past,if I need to bring customers for dinner on weekdays in Changi, I would usually bring them to Jackie Beer Garden. From my observation, it was the most popular seafood restaurant then.
The mee sua, Gong Gong and Lala is superb!
 Prawn paste Chicken
Nai Bai
Steam vermicellis with garlic
This is the best dish for the night. For those that like garlic and vermicellis as well as spiciness, this is a must try.
